Weekend Writing Prompt

It’s Friday and last night the company had its monthly meeting. Once business is covered, we inevitably end up in the pub for a few hours. In this case, only a couple of us were left standing at last call. The thundering headache that woke me this morning and the punch in the stomach feeling I got when I realised I had a meeting to go to were enough for me to utter the magic words, “never again”. Now, I know in my heart that I’m lying, but how many time have we said or done something we swore we’d never do?
Today’s Prompt: Never Again
Usual rules: 1,000 words and ponder the question, does “never” ever actually mean “never”?
There’s that great line from that Depeche Mode song:
“Never again is what you swore the time before…”
Something to that, methinks.
